*The Story Behind the Artist*
"Your music is not conventional. It's ministry...not just for listening but for ministering." - Mama Jean (GLC)
...created to bring pleasure to God...not realized until I had done all I wanted to do and obtained all I thought I wanted to have...it was not until I FINALLY said YES to the will of God that I began to walk in the way towards the destiny He planned for me before my parents met...
...reared in a Christian home but strayed away from the truth only to end up right back at home...this is when the real story began...after willfully submitting to God's purpose and plan for my life I began the journey to destiny...I'm still there and will be there until I arrive at my destination...I'm being the me God created me to be and allowing Him to be creative through me...
In October of 2004, I moved to Fayetteville, NC, which is where my passion for poetry and acoustic music evolved. As a gift from God, I began to play the acoustic guitar, which led to me writing and performing original songs and spoken word at churches, coffee houses, beauty salons, and barber shops. This opened doors and made ways for me to make one of my dreams come true, which was to record a CD.
I recorded my first CD entitled FinallYes ~ Lyrical Music for the Soul, in October of 2009. Since its release in March of 2010, God has blessed me to share it with various denominations, ethnic groups, and races. I am honored to have a gift and talent that can reach all age groups as well. Some of my biggest supporters range from ages 4 to 84.
This journey has taken me places...naturally, spiritually, and geographically! Per God's instructions, I moved back to my home town in Mississippi, in October of 2010. From Mississippi, I went to Minnesota...from Minnesota to Ames, Iowa...from Ames, Iowa to my current duty station, Waterloo, Iowa, where I am doing the work of a musical evangelist!
I am a family-oriented woman of faith. My mom, dad, and oldest brother are my heroes. In 1998, I lost my youngest brother, Spencer, to complications from sickle-cell anemia. He is the fuel for my drive to accomplish my dreams. Even though he lived with a very agonizing and painful disease, he lived life to the fullest! All I do is dedicated to him!
I am a fan of Chuck Taylor's Converse and Starbucks, which are both partners of Product (RED), a Global Fund to fight AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculosis. If you would like to make a difference in someone's life through the purchase of your favorite products, then please visit www.joinred.com.
